Soundwaves of the heart
I love browsing through old record stores. You're surrounded by all these compendiums of feelings that words alone could not convey, and still cannot, emotions that music could only carry.
3 records i had to buy: Jean Luc Ponty, Ellington's sophisticated ladies, and Jean Pierre Rampal (all under a dollar).
A friend had a record player, so I brought these amazingly unscratched, perfect condition records over and we toasted to a new chapter as the jazz oozed through his recordplayer.
School's starting, new friendships, obstacles to break through both old and new. And my obsession with candles has not diminished. I found one that I had and kept it in my car for some reason (I think it's becuase it smells good) and thought it fit the wine and jazz.
(inside of soph ladies album)
but you know the greatest thing about these records , these old songs, these romantic songs, is?
it's that they bring back a surge of memories, open up stitches that were never finished.
I imagine us beside the waterfront, driving through the lighted and empty streets of the city, or just a simple laughter in your arms.
It's not that I even mind being apart, or that we are now absent from each other, or that you might not even care anymore- I've reconciled that the best that I can, and it's not even in my control how you feel.
it's that there was such an abrupt tear, a screeching stop after the hurricane.
those songs, the pictures, the letters...the songs... I keep you in a box.
Maybe you'll be one of those time capsules that i'll get to unravel later, except you'll never be buried.

Great post V. Take care.
good post
but I think some people are better left unraveled haha.
candles, wine and jazz.. must have been an interesting evening. hope whoever you stuffed in a box doesn't suffocate.
ELLINGTON!! YES!! I'm not familiar with Rampal. Will check out later...
Sometimes I wonder if u axtually speak the same way u type...and only one glass? I also thhinnk its safe to say that no one but u and maybe great granny Wilkins from down the street still listen to records. U guys should get together ha. But I guess very economical choice but yet very impractical for a 90's baby. 90's baby for lyfe yo
I have not listened to a record in years.
I love candles too
They can change the atmosphere of a room so quickly, like flipping a mood switch.
Ah, Duke Ellington! I love his music!
there's definitely something about physical music (and books in this new tablet "era") that maybe is forever lost on us now. nothing can compare to the quality of vinyl.
This sounds like such a perfect evening. I felt like I was there through your photos. It's so hard letting go of the fact that you cannot control the emotions of others - glad that you've found an outlet.
@buddy71 - Yes! old books stores are lovely as well. I love the smell of old pages, and the fact that in those pages you can play detective and trace an author's life. and thank you =] that's exactyl what i was trying to ahcieve!!
@jimmysmallz - :D
@hombre_de_la_mancha - Thhank you!
@lovelybish - heeeeheee i think so too haha, but it makes for good poetic/romanticy posts!
@iones_island - aha it was niceee! I practiced ballroom dancing with my friend too, and we tried several wines. he's somewhat of a wine connoisseur so it was a good pre school starting type of gift.
haha he won't, he probably won't stay in there anyways
@Unstoppable_Inner_Strength -
:D:D ahhh i love that you listen to these too!!
@mrqtran - HAHA Well...depends on the subject and whom I'm conversing with! lolol ahh but i love them because they are so big and cool
@TheTheologiansCafe - haha neither have i! We had one when I came back to the states, but I don't really remembe rit tooooo well, though a lot of my neighbors still had theirs.
@firetyger - yes! That's why I lve them too! And depending on the holiday, smell, color of candle etc, they can be romantic, eerie, or just pure incandescently beautiful
@DraculVanHelsing - :D Yay I'm glad we have similar music tastes Chris!
It is, and at times it's able to drive us insane
@thefittedsheet - Agreed! the tangibility of a record/almost falling apart book, and having to keep it in such good condition haha.
@mizz_chan - :) I'm so glad you felt that, makes me happy because I wanted to convey that throug hteh photos
@Victoriamisu - I just love that old time jazz music.
